All projects and packages begin with a complimentary 20 minute Discovery Call. You will share the Who, What, When, Where and most importantly Why of your remodel project. We will distinguish what services you need to get you to the desired outcome and which Design Service will be best for you.
Full Service Design is ideal for clients local to the San Diego area, and homeowners undergoing remodels, renovations, or large-scale design projects. We are flexible, yet we have structured processes that create realistic expectations and lead to more ease in your project.
How Does Full Service Design Work?
Our full-service approach enables us to manage projects from initial concept through to completion, designing your home down to the final detail. It is our job to take care of the major and minute design details that turn a house into a home.
Our Full Service Design Process is in 5 Steps:
1. Initial consultation
2. Conceptual Design and Development of “True North”
3. Detailed Design and Budgeting
4. Construction Proposals, Purchasing and Implementation
5. Completion: Deficiencies Review, Photography and Reviews
Step 1: Initial Consultation
We offer an in home initial consultation for up to 2 hours. Fee: $350
Your home should be a reflection of you. Our process starts with getting to know you and your dreams for your home. We’ll talk about how you’d like to feel and function in your home and the results you’d like to see from our work together. We’ll discuss design direction and your style, project, goals, expectations, budget and timing. This phase is also where you get to share your dreams for your space. We will review How We Work so you are clear how we can help you accomplish a successful project. We also develop a Scope of Work upon which we create a proposal with a design fee for your project.
Step 2: Design Concept and Creation of a “True North” for your design.
Once we have an agreed upon Scope of Work and you have accepted our Fee proposal we will sign agreements and contracts for our work together. Then we dig deeper into the design. We measure and photograph the the spaces to be designed as they are. We will present inspiration photos based on our initial consultation and the photos you have shared with us. We will get clear about what you love and what you don’t! We will also review realistic costs for the finishes and furnishings to be included in your projects so we can begin the budgeting process.
Step 3: Detailed Design
Lori Ramsay Design will use our “True North” design concept and your budget guidelines to develop your detailed design. This will include floor plans, elevations, and renderings as needed to communicate the design both to you, our client, and to the contractors who will implement our design. We will select all fixtures, finishes and furnishings for your project and present them to you as a comprehensive design all tied back to your True North design concept and approved budget.
Step 4: Construction Proposals, Procurement + Implementation
Construction Proposals: With an approved detailed design we can now bring in our contractors to provide proposals to implement your design. We work with trades that share our commitment to excellence and client satisfaction. We will walk our contractor through your project and provide them with the necessary documentation to give you a thorough bid. We communicate with vendors and contractors on the specific details that bring our design to life. Procurement: Our full service clients purchase all of the materials specified in their design through Lori Ramsay Design. We bring value to your project through the professional relationships we have with our vendors and we rely on their expertise to guide us to the very best options for your home. (If you prefer to shop retail or online, that is fine too. You would be a consultation client) Implementation: Through the construction process we are in continual communication with our trades to ensure the project is completed as designed. We will be on site regularly and schedule progress meetings based on the individual projects. We oversee and coordinate all furnishings deliveries and installations as well.
Step 5: Completion Photography and Reviews
At the end of our work together we will photograph the project and request a review of our work together.
If you are someone who wants to manage your own project and need expert guidance we offer Consultation Packages curated to your specific needs. This Process begins with a complimentary 20 minute Discovery Call followed by an Initial Consultation in your home for up to 2 hours for a fee of $350. As with our Full Service Design the Initial Consultation is all about distinguishing your project goals and Scope of Work. We will discuss what you want to handle on your own and where you need our expertise. From this we will create a Custom Package with an associated Fee for the Scope of Work distinguished.
